I'm not making it to the July show at FolkWorks either, but I sure hope to be there in Nov.
John, I'll be the skinny old woman standing very quietly in a corner -- but I'll be wearing a very LOUD Santa sweater
I'm fairly certain (yeah, sure, you betcha : ) that FolkWorks doesn't do a customer postcard for the July show ... just the album on the web site. I hope they get the name/photo mix-up straightened up soon.

O.k. people I did see a Santa postcard that Folkworks sent out to Santa collectors. The Santa was holding a quilt or blanket over its arm. The lady from Ohio ( callynne ) did carve it. Cease told me the card went out on Wednesday.

Hi Ho Sliver, let me introduce myself.....my 'real name' is Deborah Call. In the FolkWorks Santa Gallery my carving is the one of Santa holding a big fat book with 'Nice' on it and an Elf holding a skinny little book with 'Naughty' on it. A fact everyone mentions I have wrong....skinny should say nice, fat naughty!!

John, sounds like the Santa I did holding a 'flag' quilt. There's a picture or two of him on the http://www.picturetrail.com site. (Password carvers-R-us, in the Holiday Album) I put it on a while ago so it's probably down about eight other pictures. I really like how he turned out, he's my first 'baldy'.

And like I told Teri, I admire her even more for all her quilt Santas, painting a quilt is a real pain in the butt!! Callynne

Great work you guys! (sorry, I mean Ladies-Nancy, Teri and Deborah, aka Callynne)

I was just on the Folkworks Gallery and I am really impressed. You are very talented and should be very proud of yourselves. I think it's great that there is a place where you can show off your talents like this.

I'm glad I can pick up some tips here and there from you.

If I've missed anyone else on this board who has anything in the Folkworks Gallery, I appologize. It's hard to keep track of user names vs. 'real' names By the way, nice to meet you Deborah LOL

Keep up the beautiful work ladies,
Chris

Thanks for all the nice words guys and it's good to 'meet' you too! Callynne

P.S. One of the hubby's favorite movies, Hi Ho Sliver! I've got the book but haven't read it yet, carving gets in the way! Ha! Ha! I'm planning on 'reading' audio books, can carve and 'read' at the same time....sounds like a winning combination to me!!!

I did go to FolkWorks on Friday. Had a great time and did meet many nice people. You would not believe the turnout. People were lined up and when the doors open you have to get out of the way or you will be knocked over.
I think everyone will be happy with the results sale wise.

Doors opened at 5p.m. and my Santas sold by 5:20p.m. Good to know People like my carvings.

Woody01

I was going to tell you what you people sold, but decided Cease should be the one to tell you

Keep up the GREAT work

Hey John, thanks for sharing what the show was like, I sure would have loved to have been there!! Nancy had told me how unbelievable they are, something I definitely intend to experience some day.
I told the hubby last night I hope I at least made $131.93...that's how much I owe him for overspending at the Carver's Show we went to this weekend!! Sure had fun doing it though, got all my basswood for the year and lots of MUCH NEEDED tools...aren't all new tools that?!! :
Also got to meet Pete Ortel, he was one of the judges...very nice man and very helpful! And Wayne, the 'voice' I speak to at MDI Woodsupply (also a very nice man and VERY helpful). I introduced myself and now he has a face to put with the pain in the butt he always has to help with her selections! Ha! Ha!
Thanks again for the update, I look forward to the day I can meet you too!! Callynne
