Definitely great Santas and everyone else is right--the eyes have it! Now fess up, don't you feel proud of the improvement your carvings have made in the .... what ... three year?
Great ornaments! Thanks for the info about the portable photo "studio" -- it's a great idea.

| | Re: First and Last ornament for 2007 The portable lighting studio is from a company called Digital Concepts and yes Marcie it was in the photo department of Wally World. However, The little bride said she had went to three super centers and they did not have them and one photo department did not know what she was talking about. However, She did find it in a another Wally World, so we know they do cary them. I saw one in the Osage Beach Wally World at the lake of the Ozarks when we were visiting my Mother in law in the hospital, and I was surprised that she had notice.
Yep Donna T, I am more satisfied with my carving skill now than three years agao and this ornament is so m uch better than the one I gave you when we met.
Sometimes I luck in to carving a nice one for sure.
Again all, Thank you for the nice comments. |

Great carving.
I went to Wally world here and got me one of those photo boxes. Our store had three. Then when I got home I had received my copy of the other carving mag and guess what....... An article on how to build one of those things. Plan on keeping mine and then in the future building another using their plan only making it larger and in a fixed location.
I enjoyed your carving especially the eyes. Ever think of doing a tuitorial? I mean you don't have an excuse now cause you can take some great pictures of the process.

| | Re: First and Last ornament for 2007 Thank you all for the nice comments but Terry, I am not much on writeing tutorials. If and when I can carve eyes great every time, then maybe. I have a long way to go on carving them correctly each time.
As for the portable lighting studio. I agree that one can build one and somewhere on this board is a thread that addressws that aspect. I think Lynn Doughty had one and gave a very descriptive post on what he uses.
But, then, with the lack of space in my little corner of the house, I am glad that for once, the little bride was paying attention and got it for me. It is neat and compact. Well as compact as a 16 x 16 x 1 inch will allow. This is good for the smaller carvings.
I have to say that the painting of the eyes, I owe to Vicki Bishops. Thanks Vicki. Boy does she make it look so easy! | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
