| | Re: Few more Ornaments Here is one of a snowman in a mitten, Design of Pat Moore. Mrs. Moore isn't a wood carver yet but her and her husband bought out Rossitters Ruff outs last month.
She was gracious to allow me a pattern. Cut it out of 5 by 3 by i inch basswood.
Not finished with it yet, Just base coat on mitten, hat and scarf parts. |

| | Re: Few more Ornaments Bill, I use delta Ceramcoat Wild Rice mostly. On these Santas, I mixed the Wild rice with a little white, then really thin down red to give the noses and cheeks a rosey color.
Top Hat Santas are 3 1/2 by 1 by 1/2 inch but have carved them 1 inch thick.
the red hooded Santas are 2 1/2 by 1 3/4 by 1/4 inchs and again, have carved them 1 inch thick.
The trees are 5 by 3 by 1 inch.
On the Top Hat Santas, I use either a 1/4 inch V tool or 1 or 2 mm u gouge to create the fur texture.
Base coat the hat with a watered don brown or tan, then dry brush the Dasiey Cream for the top color, then a Kim Gold for the hat band , then added the holly leaves and berries and on the one, reindeer hoves.
Many different combination can be used on the top hat. Whatever you imagination runs.
Thank you for your kind words and interest. |
