Default Egg Santa

This is my first stab at doing an egg santa.

I have added my second go at this!

Oh this is a nice one--are they very difficult to carve? What tools did you use for your carving? Nice work......

ByGeorge! Very Very Nice! You've done a great job on his eyes. The crow's feet wrinkles at the corner add a wonderful touch and your coloring is great. It's hard for me to think this is your first egg carving Santa.

ByGeorge...what a great little carving! Love the expression on him. Well done . Now...are you going to add the rest of him?

Kathy, only tools used were a few Ramelson V-Tools and a Denny detail knife (from Rick). I really enjoyed doing the egg because you don't have to worry with hands and feet!

Susan, thanks for your kind words. This is my first egg although I have done some other caricatures (I put another full Santa in the Carver's Galleries). I read a lot and study other people's work. The painting methods came from WCI's Painting and Finishing Guide article by Michele Carville.

Bob, "what ya see is what ya get"! Thanks for the compliments.

An absolute wonderful carving it has so much character and I agree with Susan the eyes have it, they have what I call so much sole. Just checked out your full Santa and he is even better you have a very distinct style. Excellent carving we will look forward to see more from you. As far as I am concerned you could make a living at Santa carving.

Frank, thanks for your kind words! I must say that I really do enjoy doing the Santas more than anything else I have carved. Every time I finish one, I just have to set back and smile or laugh when I look at them.

ByGeorge, great work, I agree, you're definitely a Santa carver....just something special about carving the old boy, isn't there....some kind of magic, that just gets to you! Again, great job, thanks for sharing them with us! Deborah
