LOL, Wonder if she'll put a bid on it to inflate the price.

This Texas collector is selling because she lost her job.

I may have to buy it; this piece was done about the time she first moved to Seattle. It is clearly the transition point in her carving style; the quality of her work is improving so rapidly and her national recognition is such that current prices reflect that growth.

If I can pick up one of her early works, it will fill a void in my collection.
I have pieces from her Better Homes & Garden Christmas issue article, and I have a piece that took Best of Show at a west coast woodcarving show.

Collecting current carvings may be pricey, but often, collecting an artist's early or lesser-known works will provide a much higher return on investment.

Aw, thanks, Rick. Actually, this carving was done in early '03, a little more than a year before I moved to Seattle. I was just transitioning from carving lumber-yard 2x4s to basswood - I don't know which this is.

I just feel awful about Holly's situation - she's been an avid collector of all things Santa for years, and probably has around 30 or so of my carvings among her many pieces. When I saw this one on the ebay page, my heart lurched a bit - "I remember that guy!". They're like relatives or something.
