I may have to buy it; this piece was done about the time she first moved to Seattle. It is clearly the transition point in her carving style; the quality of her work is improving so rapidly and her national recognition is such that current prices reflect that growth.
If I can pick up one of her early works, it will fill a void in my collection.
I have pieces from her Better Homes & Garden Christmas issue article, and I have a piece that took Best of Show at a west coast woodcarving show.
Collecting current carvings may be pricey, but often, collecting an artist's early or lesser-known works will provide a much higher return on investment. |
