Default Couple new carvings

Here are a few more projects I've been working on. It looks like they should attach.

The idea for the Inspirational Santa just came from needing to hear some positive words to help beat off all the gloom and doom I'm constantly hearing in the media. His quilt has inspirational words on it like, "dream, hope, pray, believe, etc." Although I usually like working with lots of color, it seemed fitting for this Santa to be more monochromatic.

Honestly, I didn't like this Mrs. Claus from start to finish. She's supposed to be holding oranges in her apron. Trying to get the right look of a swooping apron just never seemed to come. I also wanted her to be more hunched over. Although I bent her body, I still carved her head upright. Something I'm still trying to learn.

The cat sitting on the sheep was an idea taken from Williraye Studios. I was using their sheep as prototypes to learn how to carve them. I added the cat myself, but the cat resembles Williraye's style too. Sometimes it's fun to take a break from my own style and try someone else's.

Jillsy, you are being way too critical for yourself. I like all three of these carvings. From the carving to the way you finished them, they are very well done with lots of expression.

Jillsy, when you first started posting carvings here, your very own style immediately stood out. It continues to do so! I could have told they were yours without knowing it ahead of time.
I really like your work, and look forward to seeing more seasonal pieces as well as the whimsical ones you do so well.
Mama Clause with the oranges is my favorite.

Yep! If your name was not with that posting, I would have said, "dang those look like Jillsy's stuff". And I like that "stuff". Who wouldn't? Lets see some more now.
