Default Christmas Bear

Since I received my first ornament in the mail recently .. I realized I better get serious about christmas carving soon ..

So I started on ornaments and this is one of my sister's pieces this year .. she's battling ovarian cancer right now and going through chemo .. But handling it very well ..and doing well ..

I know he's a bit unusual .. but I thought what the heck .. christmas is christmas and my sister loves bears ..

Taken from a Mike Shipley pattern .. I just altered it a little .. and flat planed it ..

Gene

Hi Gene, Gentle looking little fellow, I'm sure Your Sister will love it, not just because of its looks, but because it is from her brother. Best wishes for her recovery. Merle

Now that's an interesting twist that I haven't seen before... putting a bear head on a santa. I love those carvings that just make folks ask questions and I believe that this one will pull in that kind of attention. Nice job!

After looking at him for a minute I believe that I see a little of the "Grinch" look in this piece. Bah-Humbug, I still like 'em!

Love that slouching posture and a very lovable face. Great job. I know it will bring a smile to your sister's face.
