| | Re: 3ft Santa (Member Inspired) Colin, That Santa blank is what I call my student pattern. Hes just an basic old world Santa but you can do a lot with him.
This is why I like to do the xmas in july thread. That little piece of wood that I send out inspires people to try things they normally wouldn't consider.
Cant wait to see him done!
Heres a pattern that I hand out to demonstrate how to develop a side view if you only have the front view. Its the basic pattern to that Santa.

| | Re: 3ft Santa (Member Inspired) This is so great! I'd love to be able to do this to a tree in our yard. It'd be cool too cuz it stands pretty much in front of our house and would look out as if welcoming people! You're a very gift wood carver. |

| | Re: 3ft Santa (Member Inspired) Yes the rough out was done with a chainsaw. No Marcie as much as I would love Anna to paint it that would be a long trip. I have put a little detail into the carving with some gouges and a knife and now I am ready to paint it. Here is a picture before the paint goes on. If there is anything I should change speak now before the paint goes on.

The saw horse you are using there what brand is it and how well does it work. I'd like to find one.
