| | 3ft Santa (Member Inspired) Hi Gang,
Well ever since talking to all the members of this board at open house I came back inspired by the people that I talked to and their carvings. It started with Coffeeman who I met for lunch after crossing the boarder. He had brought some of his work with him and the pictures he posts here do not give them justice. Then my stay with Callynne all I can say about her work is WOW. At open house I met with Ash and he brought his relief carvings, Alfie and Stephan with their native work. Don and his unbelievable bark house and Goody with his Santa's. I also met with others who stopped by to say hello and I was inspired with what they had to say. My inspiration for this carving came from Goody. This is a large roughout in Eastern White Cedar of a fact similar to Goody's blank. This one stands just under 3ft tall and eight inches in diameter. After doing the quilted Santa that he gave me I made a joke about using a chainsaw. That made me think, maybe I could do one using my new Redmax Chainsaw that I purchased at open house. The roughout to this stage is just under an hour I will now tidy him up and put some detail in. I will post pictures after he is completed. Oh yes I do have to paint those other roughouts I posted earlier but like always I cant concentrate on one thing at a time my mind is too active.

Lucky you have a pickup struck, you'll need it to carry home all those 2 oz bottles of Red Delta Ceramcoat you'll have to buy to paint that sucker.
Or will you be looking for a good deal on red barn paint if it's to be left outside. .

| | Re: 3ft Santa (Member Inspired) I envy you Colin. It must be great to meet many of the people you chat with on-line. It looks like you've got the "santa bug". I'd like to try one for my Mother-in-law sometime as she loves Christmas decorations.
