Default 2011 Christmas Ornament Exchange

It's only the end of July, but I missed out on the Christmas Ornament Exchange last year and don't want to wait too long this time.

Just thought I would start a thread to get things started as far as the planning process. I think there were a couple different exchanges last year. I'm not trying to take the lead, I'll let someone else with past experience do that.

So, here we go, the thread is created, it's time to hear from the Christmas Ornament Exchange leader and we can get started planning our ornaments.

I was not here last year. How does this work?

I'm with Randy. I have never participated, but would like to. I need more information about how it works.

Ten99j4,

Now would probably be a good time to start, the last couple of years there were about 18 people on the list and if I remember correctly the deadline for mailing is around December 1. If we started now that would give us roughly 1 week per ornament.

Randy and Bob,

A member of the board takes the names of people who want to be involved in the swap, last year Carol Leavy was gracious enough to volunteer, then we carve ornaments and send them to everyone on the list. You can carve different ornaments or the same ornament for everyone, it's up to you.

Anyone who hasn't done it before should give it a go, it's a blast!

Loretta

Ten,

Thanks for the reminder, I'm off to start carving ornaments!

I participated on the ornament exchange for the first time last year and definitely want to do it again. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The quality of the ornaments was exceptional, and Carol did a fantastic job organizing the entire process.

Depends how many want to exchange, don't think you would want to carve 50 ornaments. Could be broken into pairs or groups and one group would exchange with those in another group. Sounds good though.

Is being on "the board" a requirement? If not, I'd be glad to tackle this. It's right up my alley.

Hey everyone! I sent Carol Leavy a message today asking if she had interest in heading up the exchange again this year.

Trebor56 any member of the forum is more than welcome to participate in the exchange.

I did another Santa ornament today in preparation for the exchange. I'm very interested to see what everyone carves.
