A. American Indian Cane by Hershal Borders. Top to bottom: Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse, Chief Joseph, Buffalo Bill Cody, General George A. Custer, Cradle for carrying a papoose, “The End of the Trail” (sculpture by James Earl Fraser), Trail of Tears, Indian in wolf skin, cow skull, Indian grinding corn, buffalo head, cigar store Indian, Kachinas, and totem pole.

B. Bible Cane by Hershal Borders. Top to bottom: Lamb of God, Adam and Eve next to the serpent and the Tree of Knowledge, cross with the brass serpent made by Moses, the whale that swallowed Jonah, the two witnesses that are to precede Jesus coming again, Jesus coming down out of heaven on a white horse for the war of Armageddon, and the Colossal image of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream.

C. National Holiday Cane by Hershal Borders. Top to bottom: Santa bust; Christmas tree, elf and gifts; New Year’s baby; Father Time; hearts for Valentine’s Day; Washington and Lincoln for Presidents Day; Easter bunny and basket of eggs; Statue of Liberty and fire crackers for Memorial Day; pumpkin and cat for Halloween; and cornucopia, Pilgrim and Indian for Thanksgiving.

D. Hershal’s Bible Cane is carved in yellow poplar, painted with oil washes and took approximately 200 hours to complete. A close-up of the middle section of the cane shows the face of the whale that swallowed Jonah. The face below the whale represents one of the two witnesses who will precede Jesus coming again. The second witness is hidden from view on the opposite side of the cane.
