| |
- Carvers
must submit their wildlife carvings with a completed entry form to a
Woodcraft store by August 31, 2004. (Note: If a customer cannot get
to a store, they can print an entry form found at woodcraft.com or receive
one by mail by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Woodcraft,
Wildlife Carving Contest, PO Box 1686, Parkersburg, WV 26102-1686. They
should then send their carving(s) with a completed entry form to the
Woodcraft store nearest them.)
- Each carver
must submit a completed entry form with each entry, including their
signature, the category in which he/she wishes to compete and the title,
value and a short description of the piece.
- One submission
per person, per category. Each entry must be submitted with its own
entry form.
- Each entry
must be carved from wood.
- Materials
other than wood may be included in the presentation of a carving, provided
that the materials used are appropriate and are used in a subsidiary
manner.
- Carved
habitat may be coated with paint or other additives.
- Any method
used to emboss, burn, engrave or carve scales, feathers or fur in wood
is permitted.
- The entire
entry (including base) must be less than 12" x 12" x 18".
- More than
one subject on a single base is considered one entry.
- Carvings
must be clearly/permanently marked with carver's name.
- Each entry
must be the original and sole work of the entrant. No carvings from
commercial blanks or
rough-outs permitted, except in the JUNIOR division. Carvings must not
have been machine duplicated.
- Employees
or their immediate family members of Woodcraft, The Woodworkers Club®,
SBR, its subsidiaries or co-sponsor(s) are not eligible to enter. Woodcraft
or Woodworkers Club instructors may enter the contest at the Professional
level, if they are not considered a part-time or full-time employee.
- Entrants
should securely pack their carvings to bring to the store. Carvings
will be returned to the carvers
in the original containers.
- Store
contest winners will be notified by October 4, 2004. Entrants must pick
up their carvings after
October 4, 2004, and before October 31, 2004, if not a winner. Carvings
not picked up by October 31,
2004, will be shipped COD from the store to the entrant.
- Store
contest winners are eligible to enter the National Contest.
- Winners
are responsible for selecting appropriate packing and carrier for
shipping their winning carving to Woodcraft headquarters for judging.
If carving is damaged during shipment, Woodcraft
will notify you within ten days so you may contact your shipper for
reimbursement.
- Send
your carving to: Woodcraft, Wildlife Carving Contest, 1177 Rosemar
Rd., Parkersburg, WV 26105. Please enclose a copy of your contest
entry form with your carving (available at your local Woodcraft store
if you did not keep a copy).
- Entries
must arrive at Woodcraft headquarters by October 15, 2004.
- Upon
completion of contest judging, Woodcraft will return your item to
your home address using Federal Express Ground or Three Day Select
service in the same container and packing material in which it arrived
at Woodcraft headquarters, providing that original container and materials
are in
good condition upon arrival.
- Woodcraft
will purchase insurance through Federal Express based on the value
you have declared on your Entry Form, to a maximum of $500. If your
carving is damaged during shipment, you must notify Woodcraft within
10 days of receipt of your item. Woodcraft will then notify Federal
Express if you decide to file a claim. Federal Express is the sole
source of reimbursement for any claims of damage or loss. Woodcraft
is not responsible for any carvings lost or damaged during shipment.
- Entries
not meeting the above guidelines will be disqualified.
